“Magnificent Seven Stars: Where Are They Now?”

Published on

In a poignant moment, one of the original stars of the classic Western film “The Magnificent Seven” passed away in the comforting embrace of his spouse.

Fans of traditional Western movies are eagerly anticipating the upcoming television adaptation of “The Magnificent Seven,” greenlit by MGM+. This new rendition, following in the footsteps of the 1960 and 2016 films, will feature Matt Dillon as the lead character, Chris Adams.

Joanne Froggatt will embody the character of Harriet Talbot, a woman marked by profound anguish and loss, while Forsyth will play Katie ‘Deadeye’ Dalton, a former sharpshooter from a traveling Wild West exhibition.

The recent casting news has reignited interest in the original cast of the 1960 film, renowned as a pinnacle of the Western genre. Here is an overview of what happened to the original Chris Adams, portrayed by Yul Brynner, and his fellow gunslingers.

Yul Brynner, born Yuliy Borisovich Briner, was a Russian-American actor whose final appearance was in “Death Rage.” He lost his battle with lung cancer in 1985 at the age of 65 in New York Hospital.

Prior to his passing, Brynner collaborated with the American Cancer Society to create a public service announcement, urging against smoking. He emphasized the importance of avoiding smoking to prevent cancer.

Steve McQueen, born Terrence Stephen McQueen, was known for his rebellious on-screen persona. In the late 1970s, he was diagnosed with cancer related to asbestos exposure, and by early 1980, his condition was declared terminal.

Despite warnings from American doctors, McQueen underwent surgery in Mexico to remove a liver tumor. Unfortunately, he suffered a fatal heart attack during the procedure in Juárez, at the age of 50.

Horst Werner Buchholz, a German actor with a prolific career spanning 60 films, passed away unexpectedly at 69 due to pneumonia following hip surgery.

Charles Bronson, celebrated for his action roles, passed away at 81 in Los Angeles due to respiratory failure. His second wife’s ashes were interred in a walking cane alongside him.

Robert Vaughn, an American actor and activist, succumbed to leukemia at 83 in a hospice in Connecticut after a year of treatment.

Brad Dexter, an American actor known for his Western roles, died at 85 in California from a lung condition.

James Coburn, an American actor with a vast filmography, suffered a fatal heart attack at 74 in Beverly Hills while listening to music with his wife, Paula.

Paula, who was holding Coburn when he passed, tragically died of cancer at 48 just two years later.

The “Magnificent Seven” series is set to premiere on MGM+.
