A mother has criticized the police after her 13-year-old son was knocked off his e-bike by officers in an unmarked police car. Junior Moran was riding home from MMA training when the incident occurred. CCTV footage from a house on Hilton Lane in Little Hulton, Salford captured the moment when a police officer knocked Junior off his e-bike. Subsequently, an unmarked Greater Manchester Police (GMP) vehicle was driven at him, causing him to fall onto the pavement.

Despite being initially detained, Junior can be heard pleading with the officers, insisting he had done nothing wrong. His mother, Jayne, described how the incident left him ‘traumatized’ and physically unsteady. She mentioned that Junior was unaware the men were police officers and would have cooperated if he had known.

GMP stated that the e-bike Junior was riding was illegal, leading to a decision for one officer to make tactical contact while another officer detained the teenager. The force’s Professional Standards Directorate is investigating the incident and the accompanying video footage.

Following the incident, Junior was taken to the hospital with severe concussion. Jayne expressed her distress over the lack of proper identification by the officers and the fear it instilled in her son. GMP mentioned that Junior was not arrested but the e-bike was seized under the Road Traffic Act due to its illegal status.

The police spokesperson confirmed that they are reviewing the use of tactical contact in this case and have withdrawn the driving officer’s authority pending further investigation. The family received an apology from a superintendent during their hospital visit. The incident is being thoroughly reviewed to ascertain the complete circumstances surrounding the incident.
