A mother in Australia has given birth to an extraordinary set of identical quadruplets that medical experts describe as extremely rare. Jenitar and her partner, Jortham Na-amoana, welcomed four baby girls named Emily, Harriet, Alexa, and Catherine at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. These quadruplets were conceived naturally and are monozygotic, meaning they originated from a single fertilized egg that split into four embryos.

The girls were delivered via caesarean section at 28 weeks and four days on July 14, defying the odds as the chances of naturally conceiving quadruplets are estimated to be one in 15 million. The couple, who already have four children between the ages of one and ten, were taken by surprise by the news of expecting quadruplets.

Dr. Alexa Bendall, one of the medical professionals involved in the care of Mrs. Na-amoana during her pregnancy, expressed amazement at the successful outcome. She highlighted the rarity of monozygotic quadruplets and praised Jenitar for navigating the pregnancy without complications, ensuring the safe arrival of the newborn girls.

The hospital staff emphasized the high-risk nature of having monozygotic quadruplets and closely monitored Mrs. Na-amoana starting at 25 weeks. Dr. Bendall indicated that reaching the 28-week milestone was a significant achievement, and the babies are currently progressing well in the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit.

To support the growing family, Jenitar and Jortham have set up a GoFundMe page to cover the expenses of raising eight children, including the four newborn quadruplets. They are seeking assistance with purchasing a larger vehicle, essential baby supplies, and managing ongoing medical and living costs. The couple expressed gratitude for any form of support, whether financial contributions or sharing their story to raise awareness.
