A frightened dog thrown from a city wall has been given a fresh start, thanks to a heartwarming act of kindness from Ricky Gervais. The black labrador, named Hugo, suffered multiple fractures during the disturbing incident in Canterbury, where he was found injured and alone by a concerned witness.

Hugo was taken in by Flori’s Friends Rescue, where staff quickly identified the seriousness of his injuries. However, the required treatment came with a significant cost. Enter Gervais and his extraordinary generosity. Earlier this year, the comedian donated £100,000 to the charity, a contribution that has already had a profound impact on numerous animals’ lives.

This donation meant that Hugo could undergo the urgent surgery he desperately needed, which amounted to around £5,000.

The rescue organization expressed immense gratitude for the support received, emphasizing the tangible difference it has already made.

Hugo’s story is just one of many success stories. Thanks to the funding, three dogs have received stem cell transplants, and two paralyzed dogs have been equipped with custom-made wheelchairs to aid their mobility.

Moreover, 23 cats have been spayed thanks to the donations.

Several other animals have also benefited from life-changing treatments. For instance, a cat named Tony received £9,000 worth of care for various infections and spinal issues, while a Yorkie named Georgie made a full recovery following £6,000 of specialized treatment.
