Nedra Talley Ross, the final surviving member of the 1960s girl group known as the Ronettes, has passed away at the age of 80.
Talley Ross was part of the musical ensemble alongside her cousins Ronnie Spector and Estelle Bennett. Together, they achieved great success with hit songs like Be My Baby, Walking in the Rain, Baby, I Love You, and (The Best Part of) Breakin’ Up.
The announcement of Talley Ross’s passing was made on the group’s Instagram account, expressing sorrow over the loss. Describing her as a beacon of light for those who knew her, the post praised her vocal talent and style that contributed to shaping the group’s distinctive sound.
In a separate statement, Talley Ross’s daughter, Nedra K Ross, shared the news on Facebook, confirming her mother’s peaceful passing at home surrounded by loved ones. She mentioned plans for a future Celebration of Life event.
The Ronettes gained fame for their iconic beehive hairstyles and achieved lasting success through their collaboration with producer Phil Spector. Despite releasing only one studio album, their music has stood the test of time.
In recognition of their impact, the Ronettes were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.
