Canadian actor Simu Liu, known for his role in Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” has recently married Allison Hsu, a music industry executive. The couple exchanged vows over the weekend, as confirmed by Liu’s publicist to CBC News on Tuesday. Reports by TMZ initially covered their wedding festivities in France.
Liu and Hsu publicly announced their engagement in May 2025 during a trip to Paris, after dating since late 2022. The couple has been actively sharing their relationship journey on social media, with Hsu posting images from wedding-related events in Mexico and a summer visit to Paris with Liu.
In an interview with People magazine in 2023, Liu expressed his admiration for their relationship, emphasizing mutual support and care. Liu, originally from China and raised in Toronto, is set to reprise his role as Shang-Chi in the upcoming Marvel film “Avengers: Doomsday.”
His portrayal of Shang-Chi has propelled Liu to international stardom, following his success in the CBC comedy “Kim’s Convenience,” where he played Jung Kim. Apart from his Marvel role, Liu has been involved in various projects, including featuring in the movie “Barbie” as Ken, voice acting in “In Your Dreams,” and starring in the spy thriller series “The Copenhagen Test.”
Additionally, Liu returned to his theatrical roots with a performance in the Tony-winning comedy “Oh, Mary!” earlier this year, marking his debut on Broadway. In a candid discussion with The National’s Ian Hanomansing, Liu addressed the need for more Asian representation in leading roles, highlighting challenges posed by traditional and conservative mindsets in Hollywood.
