Karen Hauer’s future beyond her time on the popular show “Strictly Come Dancing” is promising as she secures her first post-Strictly gig. The talented Venezuelan-American dancer is set to star in the revival of the comedy theater production “Stepping Out.”
“Stepping Out,” originally created by Richard Harris, is set to tour the UK this summer, starting in Eastbourne before moving to Southend, Bromley, and Fareham. Karen will be portraying the character Mavis, a dance instructor overseeing a group of amateur tap dancers who are enthusiastic but not particularly skilled.
Expressing her excitement about the new role, Karen mentioned, “I’m thrilled to be part of this fresh production of Stepping Out. The play celebrates everyday individuals achieving remarkable feats through dance, a theme that resonates with me as a teacher and guide. I am eager to put on my tap shoes again and collaborate with a talented cast to bring this heartwarming comedy to life on stage.”
Director Chris Jordan also shared his enthusiasm about Karen joining the production, highlighting her popularity and experience from her time on Strictly Come Dancing. Karen’s departure from the show was recently confirmed after her long tenure, making her the longest-serving female professional dancer on the series since joining in 2012.
In a heartfelt message to her fans and colleagues, Karen expressed gratitude for the life-changing experience on “Strictly Come Dancing” and the opportunity to work with inspiring individuals. She reminisced about her journey on the show, expressing appreciation for the support she received.
As Karen embarks on this new chapter in her career, fans and peers alike are excited to see where her path leads next. In addition to Karen, several other professional dancers have also announced their departure from the series, marking a significant change in the lineup for the upcoming season.
