She shared that the disease, which is deemed incurable, has spread to her bones. Despite this, the 53-year-old actress expressed her acceptance of the situation and her lack of fear for the future.
Davis stated that she is focusing on living the remaining time of her life in a joyful manner. She emphasized the importance of finding lessons in challenging situations, mentioning that cancer has taught her valuable insights for which she is grateful. The actress mentioned that chemotherapy is no longer an option for her as the cancer has metastasized to her spine, right hip, and ribs.
In an Instagram post, Davis recited the poem Ringing Out by Irve Le Moyne and rang a bell, a tradition signifying the completion of treatment for cancer patients. Born in Solihull, England, in 1973, Davis rose to fame for her role as Dawn Tinsley in the popular BBC comedy series The Office from 2001 to 2003. She also appeared in notable films like Shaun of the Dead (2004) and Wonder Woman (2017).
Despite experiencing frequent pain and occasionally needing a wheelchair, Davis highlighted the significance of humor in her life. She encouraged her friends and family to engage in light-hearted banter, which she finds uplifting. Additionally, Davis, an advocate for animal rights, expressed her intention to continue her activism work and pursue her acting career.
Reflecting on her journey with breast cancer, Davis emphasized the importance of early detection. She urged individuals not to overlook any health concerns and to promptly seek medical attention for evaluation. The Public Health Agency of Canada reports that breast cancer affects one in eight women in Canada during their lifetime, with annual mammograms recommended for screening between ages 50 and 74.
