In Northern Ireland, local sources have reported the tragic discovery of a deceased police officer on Whiterocks Beach.

The body, believed to be that of a detective inspector, was found at Portrush’s Whiterocks Beach in Co Antrim over the weekend.

Upon the grim find, emergency services were summoned to the location, prompting the establishment of cordons and a plea for the public to steer clear of the area, according to Belfast Live.

Deputy mayor Alderman Richard Brown Stewart of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council expressed shock at the incident, calling it a disheartening event for the town.

Offering condolences, Stewart mentioned the challenging and distressing period ahead for the deceased’s family and friends while commending the response of the emergency services and other involved parties.

Authorities from the PSNI had earlier confirmed the discovery of a body at Whiterocks Beach, urging the public to avoid the area for ongoing investigations.

In a separate incident, another body was found in the river at Kilbroney Park near Rostrevor, Co Down, hours before the beach discovery.

PSNI officers responded to the Kilbroney Park incident early Sunday, indicating that the death, although subject to a future post-mortem, is currently not considered suspicious.

Reflecting on the Kilbroney Park discovery, local councilor Mark Gibbons expressed gratitude towards the emergency services and individuals who assisted at the scene in a difficult and sorrowful situation.
