“UK Set for Mini Heatwave with 22C Temperatures Over Bank Holiday”

Published on

Vibrant weather maps indicate that a significant portion of the UK is set to experience a mini heatwave with temperatures reaching 22C, coinciding with a rare bank holiday weekend.

Over 20 counties are expected to enjoy abundant sunshine, with temperatures peaking at 22C in certain areas. Meteorologists predict a gradual increase in temperatures leading up to the May bank holiday weekend.

Although this week has been dry, temperatures have mostly remained average, ranging from 15C in Topcliffe, North Yorkshire, to just 11C in Durham. However, a shift is on the horizon as most of the country is poised to experience mini heatwave-like conditions at the beginning of next month.

Recent WXCHARTS weather maps, generated on April 23 using Met Desk data, have highlighted areas in yellow and orange, indicating temperatures may soon surpass 20C in multiple regions. The warm spell is set to commence at midday on Sunday, May 3, with the highest temperatures concentrated in the Southeast of England, particularly around Greater London, Kent, and Surrey.

Southern England is forecasted to experience highs of 20C, while the Midlands, Yorkshire, and the Humber are expected to see highs of 19C as per the maps. Extensive areas in the Southwest of England, including Bath, Somerset, and Bristol, are likely to witness temperatures hitting 18C.

By 6pm on May 3, temperatures are projected to rise further, with London expected to bask in sunny weather with highs of 22C, and Surrey experiencing a balmy 21C, as reported by the Express.

In Essex and Kent, temperatures could reach a pleasant 20C, while Wiltshire, Berkshire, Bristol, Gloucester, and Hampshire may see mercury levels settling between 19C and 20C. The Midlands is also set to benefit from mild weather, with 20C in the forecast, and even parts of West Yorkshire might enjoy sunny intervals, with Leeds projected to reach highs of 20C. However, northern England is expected to see temperatures only reaching 14C, with Scotland possibly experiencing lows of 10C as indicated by the maps.

In Wales, southern regions are likely to encounter the mildest conditions, with 18C anticipated, whereas west Wales may see temperatures climbing only to 13C according to the maps.

Looking ahead to 6pm on May 4, the pleasant conditions are expected to persist for many across the country. Bank holiday Monday in the southwest is set to be a delightful 20C, while the Midlands is expected to hover around 19C as per the maps.

However, Scotland may only reach temperatures of 4C, and in Wales, the mercury is likely to settle around 13C as indicated by the maps. The Met Office’s long-range forecast from April 28 to May 7 suggests a continuation of predominantly dry conditions with temperatures staying above normal for most regions.
