“UK Weather Rollercoaster: Heatwave Returns, Thunderstorms Loom”

Published on

Temperatures have returned to normal levels after a recent heatwave, with the weather expected to reach 19C to 22C across the UK this week. Thunderstorms and heavy showers are anticipated tomorrow, as per the Met Office. However, the GFS weather model predicts a spike back to 30C on June 11 in the south-east, specifically around London.

The south-east could experience highs of 28C on June 15, extending as far north as Yorkshire. June 16 might see temperatures hitting 30C in the south-east again, with the rest of the UK also experiencing temperatures in the mid-to-high-20s. Maps indicate temperature anomalies in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, with 16 counties likely to witness temperatures exceeding 28C during this period.

The Met Office suggests a potential heatwave towards the end of the month, although thunderstorm warnings have also been issued. The forecast for June 16 to 30 indicates a relatively settled start with high pressure leading to drier conditions. Despite some chances of showers or rain, temperatures are expected to be above normal, with a possibility of heavy showers and thunderstorms towards the end of the month, especially in the south.
