A United Airlines flight had to abort its landing at a major UK airport due to a mid-air emergency. The ferry flight UA3907 was en route from Munich, Germany, to Newark Airport in the US but made a sudden turnaround over the Atlantic, according to flight radar maps. Initially heading towards Heathrow for landing, the flight then redirected and touched down in Dublin.
The flight crew declared a ‘Squawk 7700’ code during the journey, which is a standard transponder code signaling an in-flight emergency to air traffic control (ATC). At an altitude of 34,000ft, the declaration was made at 2:20 pm.
The decision to switch from Heathrow to Dublin was attributed to “operational reasons,” as reported by AirLive. United Airlines confirmed the flight cancellation shortly after its arrival in Dublin.
