“Tragic A30 Crash: Boy Dead, Another Critical”

An eight-year-old boy tragically lost his life in a multi-vehicle collision, while a five-year-old boy is currently in critical condition at a hospital. The incident occurred on the westbound carriageway of the A30 in Cornwall near Connor Downs around 11 am last Friday, prompting the response of emergency services.

The police confirmed the death of the eight-year-old boy at the crash site. The five-year-old boy was swiftly transported to Bristol Children’s Hospital and is still in critical condition, according to reports from Cornwall Live. Additionally, two women who were passengers in the same vehicle sustained injuries. A woman in her 70s suffered severe injuries and is receiving treatment at Derriford Hospital, while another woman in her 40s was treated for injuries at Derriford and has since been discharged.

A man in his 60s was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He received treatment for minor injuries and was later released under investigation.

Detective Inspector Andy Heath from the Serious Collisions Investigation Team at Devon and Cornwall Police expressed condolences to those affected by the tragic incident. He mentioned ongoing investigations by specialist teams and urged the public not to speculate on the cause of the collision, emphasizing a thorough inquiry process.
