Passengers aboard a Turkish flight experienced a frightening incident when their plane collided with a pole upon landing. The Boeing 777 aircraft’s right wing struck a radar mast while taxiing at Antalya International Airport, causing damage to the fuselage and triggering the deployment of oxygen masks inside the cabin.
The flight, operated by Turkish Airlines as TK2430, had just arrived from Istanbul and was in the process of parking when the collision occurred. The impact punctured the fuselage, dislodged overhead storage, and led to the deployment of oxygen masks in multiple rows, leaving passengers in a state of panic.
Video footage captured the aftermath, showing oxygen masks hanging from damaged compartments as bewildered travelers observed the scene. Despite the chaos, all 267 passengers and crew members were safely evacuated with only one passenger sustaining minor injuries.
An investigation into the incident has been initiated by Turkish Airlines, with the Turkish Ministry of Transport revealing that the plane had deviated from its designated lane after landing, resulting in the collision with the radar mast. Following the evacuation and necessary inspections, the damaged aircraft, a Boeing 777-300ER with registration TC-LKD, was moved to a parking area for further assessment.
The 17-year-old plane, previously leased to IndiGo and still bearing its livery, suffered significant damage to its right wing and fuselage, necessitating extensive repairs. The investigation into the accident remains ongoing.
