“Leaked Draft Peace Agreement Favors Iran, US Denies Details”

Published on

A potential peace agreement in Washington may lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, but it appears to heavily favor Iran, particularly regarding nuclear issues. Iran recently leaked alleged details of the draft agreement, which was promptly dismissed by US President Donald Trump as “fake news.”

The proposed deal includes a short 60-day negotiation period on nuclear matters, a timeline that experts criticize as unrealistic. Simultaneously, Trump faced backlash for claiming a near deal as US forces intercepted two Iranian attack drones.

If finalized, the leaked document suggests Tehran could receive substantial reparations, sanctions relief, and access to previously frozen assets. The authenticity of the leaked agreement remains uncertain, with speculation that Iran might be countering Trump’s misleading statements on settlements.

Reportedly, the draft settlement outlines plans to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and cease Iran’s nuclear activities. Additionally, Iran is pushing for Lebanon’s involvement in the peace deal and demands non-interference in its internal affairs. Notably, support for proxy groups like Hezbollah and the Houthis is currently not part of the proposed agreement.

Allegedly, the draft includes provisions for significant financial aid for Tehran’s city reconstruction, totaling $300 billion, and the release of $24 billion in blocked Iranian funds. Trump vehemently denied Iran’s claims, accusing them of dishonesty and lack of good faith in negotiations.

A security source analyzing the document suggested that if genuine, the agreement appears more as a unilateral American retreat disguised as a diplomatic breakthrough, with concessions on sanctions relief, asset access, and reconstruction financing. In exchange, the US would only secure the Strait of Hormuz reopening, neglecting Iran’s missile program and proxy networks.

The proposed deal would effectively abandon US objectives concerning Iran’s nuclear and missile capabilities, settling for stability in energy supply. The 60-day nuclear discussion period is deemed insufficient for achieving a satisfactory resolution.

The developments come shortly after Trump’s announcement of a peace deal, though Iran has not confirmed a conclusive decision on ending the Middle East conflict. Tehran’s foreign ministry spokesperson highlighted disagreements stemming from new US demands during negotiations, delaying a final agreement.
