The investigation also uncovered chargers lacking necessary safety markings and having unsafe internal circuitry that could lead to overheating hazards. This alarming discovery highlights the dangers posed by counterfeit chargers sold through online marketplaces. Sue Davies from Which? emphasized the serious consequences poorly designed electrical products can have and called for stricter product safety laws and enforcement on online platforms.

In response to these concerns, Amazon and B&Q reiterated their commitment to customer safety and stated that products on their platforms comply with safety regulations. Both companies emphasized their efforts to monitor safety concerns, remove problematic products, and ensure product safety for consumers. To mitigate risks, experts recommend purchasing chargers from reputable brands like Apple, Belkin, Anker, and Samsung, even though they may come at a higher cost than cheaper alternatives.
